It is with much sadness that we report on the fact that the State of Oklahoma rejected pleas from The Innocence Project and others and did in fact execute Timothy Shaun Stemple yesterday, March 15, 2012. This Fair and Unbalanced Blog details the case summary (here).
Here is the Diary by drnononono yesterday - with Petition to Halt the execution.
The family placed the picture and Letter (below) upon the www.FreeShaun.com website;
Welcome
Shaun Stemple died on March 15th at the hands of the State and a legal system that is grossly flawed. Despite strong evidence for innocence and the known lies and inconsistencies of witnesses, Shaun was executed.
Shaun spoke his last words with his family. He had seen his words twisted so many times by reporters and did not want to leave his family to deal with more pain. His concern at all times was for his daughter, his family, and his wife's family. His final prayer was that one day the truth would be known.
This is not the end. The Innocence Project has taken Shaun's case. His family will continue to pursue truth and justice because the diseased system that took Shaun's life will kill again.
WE LOVE OUR SON, BROTHER, AND UNCLE AND WILL MISS HIM DEARLY.
After the efforts of the former FBI Director, the Pope and President Jimmy Carter on behalf of the Troy Davis case - one can understand how campaigns to save a person from execution are filled with hopelessness.
However, this is a noble quest. With the many cases like Troy Davis and Todd Cameron Willingham out there, compounded with the profuse amount of prosecutorial misconduct issues and people being found innocent in a significant number of cases and the fact that Illinois repealed the death penalty. There is reason to hope this murder by state will end in our lifetime. All we have to do is care enough to try and make such happen.
Rest in Peace Shaun. May your innocence one day be undeniable!
