No to Escalation! Thursday MoveOn Rallies need you!
Wed Jan 10, 2007 at 05:12:05 PM PDT

MoveOn.org is organizing rallies against the escalation for this Thursday. You can click here to find a rally near you (just enter your zip code, ignore the one that is in there as it is mine), and if there is no rally planned near you, please try to take the time to organize a rally.
Why should you attend a rally? Why should you organize one? Because we live in a free country, a country in which we have the right to protest that which we disagree with, because we have the right to speak out, because we must use these rights and speak loud and strong against Bush and his escalation.

Simultaneously on the House and Senate Floor right now they are debating the Military Commissions Act of 2006, the bill the suspends habeas corpus and legalizes torture.
This is turning point in America. Both the House and Senate Bills have been rushed forward with minimal debate.

Local NBC TV to interview hubby on internet and campaigns
Wed Aug 09, 2006 at 11:20:29 AM PDT
The local SF Bay Area NBC affiliate channel 11 is going to interview my husband (he is the spokesperson for DowningStreetMemo.com) on the role of blogs and the internet on political campaigns, as soon as they get here to the house. I think they want a local angle on last night's story, and they have us in their Rolodex as "bloggers, local" so there you go.

So I have a few photos to add to the montage. I will be days processing everything that happened this weekend, wow. I like the message of
occams hatchet's diary, and can't really think of a better way to say it myself, so I second his sentiments.

DowningStreetMemo.com - "Happy" Birthday
Sat May 13, 2006 at 03:57:21 PM PDT
In May of 2005, a conversation on a blog inspired three individuals to start a website.
One year and nearly one million site visits later, DowningStreetMemo.com stands as an example of citizen journalism in action.
Laughing at Boxer's request for time to speak...
Mon Jan 30, 2006 at 02:52:36 PM PDT
The gloating has begun.
Did you see the reaction to Boxer asking for time for various dem senators to speak... chuckling and a smirk.
Now we have DeMint giving a wingnut pep talk. Does he get to run at the mouth with this personal smear of a "speech?"
How do you all here handle this stuff? I am more upset than I was after the last two elections... maybe because this is the consequence of losing those elections I feared the most.
I fear for my daughter. I am crying. Goddamn it.
Need help factchecking BBC-Abramoff gave to Dems?
Tue Jan 24, 2006 at 12:00:09 PM PDT
This line of inquiry began after reading McGoohan's diary
BBC quotes former Republican now lobbyist- Abramoff...
I went to the BBC article linked to in the diary, and read this:
Weber also told me that this scandal - the biggest in 10 years he predicted - was one of those very rare truly bipartisan affairs. Both sides of the aisle were bought.

Sounds like a program on blogs, etc... someone just called me to let me know, so I will go now to listen too...
I will delete this diary soon, just wanted to let you all know. If this has been announced already, let me know!
Happy Wednesday...
Update: I decided to leave the diary up because there are a couple of good points made in the later comments by cityduck and mcjoan, etc...
A bit more substantive than my cheerleading :-)
Thanks.

"This resolution today is not what I envisioned; not what I introduced." You go, Jack! I disagree with so much of what Murtha has voted for in the past, but he is saying what needs to be said now...

" 9 September, 2005
This is a truly astonishing piece of work. I cannot believe how comprehensive it is . I for one shall be using it extensively whenever I write on this subject.
Regards,
Michael"
[Quote from an email from Michael Smith, reporter with the Sunday Times who broke the story of the Downing Street Memos in the UK, referring to Misled Into War: A Timeline. Wow. To all at dKos who have supported our work, well done!]
Need help w/setting up store for Norquist poster
Fri Sep 02, 2005 at 07:30:48 PM PDT
A quick and dirty diary, my apologies, but I don't write often anyway...
Thanks to fellow Kossack internik, I now know that the photo I used for the Norquist quote/New Orleans graphc that Kos featured on the front page this morning is in the public domain! Yay!
I have gotten email and comments of appreciation for composing the graphic (thanks everyone) and out of this feedback, I think it would be a splendid idea to make this available as a poster on Cafe Press. We could mark it up however much you guys think is reasonable, with profits going to the Red Cross.
