Worse Than Caving In to Fox.....

....is becoming a "Politics as Usual" politician.
Obama has my strong support, because he seems to be the candidate most likely to change a dysfunctional political process. Bush is just a symptom; the process is the reason why we get Presidents like him. We need a system of political discourse that focuses on real issues, not flag pins and Rev Wrights.
Obama was making good headway at shrugging off the "Politics as Usual" syndrome. During the ABC debate, he chided them for the questions they asked. On the campaign trail, be drew attention to the disconnect between the process and the issue.
Any return to meaningful discourse must include the marginalization of FoxNews.
Appearing on the FoxNews network is a major step backwards. The only reason to appear on FoxNews is to "play the game". You are deluding yourself if you think the low information voters of FoxNews are going to be part of a November victory.
The only "good" reason to appear on FauxNews is really not very good at all. Assuming Obama isn't foolish enough to believe that low info Fox viewers are going to turn out for him, then his appearance was directed at observers in the Democratic Party. The only half-way reasonable explanation for his appearance on FN, is that he wanted to show other Democrats that he wasn't afraid to do it.
If this is the case, then Obama engaged in some political Kabuki Theater. Which is precisely the kind of shit that is endemic to the current US political process.
Appearing on FN isn't just caving in, it's politics as usual. If Obama keeps going down that road, it will be a disaster. His crossover appeal is based on the CHANGE message. If it's just a message, then he's going to alienate the voters who want to see a fundamental change in the process.
